How are the Business Case Interviews structured?

Each interview round is a dynamic one-hour session packed with opportunities for you to shine:

  1. Personal fit part (~15-20 min): We want to learn more about you. Expect questions about your previous experience and your motivation for joining Singular.
  2. Business case part (~30 min): Your interviewer will guide you through a case study which you will analyse and develop solutions for. The case studies can be based on actual consulting cases, allowing you to become familiar with our work. Use this opportunity to demonstrate your strategic thinking, analytical abilities, and communication skills.
  3. Learn more about us (~10 min). We value intellectual curiosity, feel free to ask questions to get more familiar with our company!
How to prepare for the Business Case Interviews?

To get ready for the Business Case Interviews, we recommend to engage in practice sessions with others. Mistakes often arise from structural issues, so it is helpful to create a clear framework that allows the interviewer to follow your thought process and solution development.

Remember, it is absolutely fine not to have all the answers immediately. Therefore, communicate with the interviewer, ask questions if needed, and listen up for any hints, as they could hold valuable insights. Show us that you understood the assignment by focusing on the key points and prioritizing like a pro. At Singular, the expectation is not that you already know everything - but that you are able to learn everything.

Last but not least, reflect on your motivation and enjoy the process!

In which language will the interviews be conducted?

Typically, interviews are conducted in English as this is our working language. However, if both you and your interviewer share a native language, parts of the interview may be conducted in that language. Regardless, we recommend candidates to prepare for both scenarios.

What qualities are you seeking in potential candidates?
  • Top performing students with outstanding problem solving and analytical skills (BSc or MSc students or equal seniority)
  • Strong academic credentials and a strong entrepreneurial drive
  • Previous internship(s) in management consulting, investment banking, strategy departments or other fast-paced environments
  • 'Can do attitude’, a positive mindset and the eagerness to take initiative
  • The ability and curiosity to learn everything required to become a top management consultant
  • Excellent communication skills - fluency in German is a plus, as we are operating in the DACH region
How to make a difference?

When thinking about how to make a difference, start by understanding what drives you personally. Be specific and give real examples when answering questions. During the interview, actively engage with the interviewer, making sure they can follow your thoughts and ideas. Even if you come across topics you are not familiar with, approach them with logical assumptions and a problem-solving mindset. Remember, also as intern, you are fully integrated into our project teams, so we are looking for dependable and trustworthy team players - strive to demonstrate these qualities throughout your interview.
